Ruth Waller Commemoration Ceremony

Charge’ d’Affaires Ethan Goldrich with Mrs. Goldrich and family

On August 6, 2012, U.S. Charge d’Affaires Ethan Goldrich and his family visited the Military Cemetery in Minsk to pay tribute to fellow American Ruth Waller, who died in Minsk in 1946 while conducting vital relief work as a member of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA). UNRRA, working together with  Belarusians, provided international technical and humanitarian assistance in war torn Belarus. In honor of Waller and her sacrifice, the U.S. Embassy holds an annual commemoration ceremony.
