Winners of the First Ever “How We Learn English” Video Contest Are Presented Awards at PAS Gala Screening

Over 30 English learners and their teachers from secondary schools and universities in Minsk and Gomel, Vitebsk and Grodno regions came to the Public  Affairs  Section on May 14 for Gala Screening and Awards Ceremony of the first ever U.S. Embassy in Belarus “HOW WE LEARN ENGLISH” video  contest. Officially announced at the 17th International Book Fair in February 2010, the  video contest attracted over 50 participants to share their videos of the unique moments in learning English. Although very different in styles, all of the videos were full of enthusiasm and love for  the English language.  During the ceremony, all of the participating groups were awarded with a CD Radio Cassette Recorder, a set of English teaching materials and books for reading, certificates of participation.  Special awards were also presented to six winners for quality,  originality, improvisation and inspiration.  For example,  a special award was given to the students  from the International Relations Department at the Belarusian State University for  technical and creative excellence, to a group of high school students from Miory (Grodno region)   in recognition of a superior and fascinating performance as “Little Red Riding Hood” Characters, to the students from Maryina Gorka (Minsk region)  for being the best little actors, to  the  students from the Department of Intercultural Economic Communications at the Belarusian State  Economic University for creativity and humor. The First Place Award was presented to  the  students from the English Department at the Minsk State Linguistics University for the best submission in the How We Learn English Contest.
