U.S. Speaker Tells Belarusians about the Role of Press Secretaries
U.S. communications and public affairs specialist Peter McDonough explained the role of press secretaries and the functions of responsible press offices during an October 13-18 program in Belarus coordinated by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy. McDonough focused on several themes, including effective communications planning. Speaking in the capital city of Minsk he addressed undergraduate communications students, PR managers, journalists of independent media, and spokespersons for political parties and NGOs. Venues included Belarusian State University, Belarusian Association of Journalists, Institute of Public Relations, and the American Corner at the Pushkin Library. Former Press Secretary for NJ Governor Christie Whitman, McDonough has over 25 years of experience at the state and federal levels of government and in the private sector. He is founder and president of McDonough Public Affairs Relations with offices in Washington, DC, and Pennington, NJ.
