Embassy Brings Liss Fain Contemporary Dance To Minsk

Choreographer Liss Fain explains her dance philosophy to local choreography students during masterclass

The Liss Fain Dance Company, a contemporary dance group from San Francisco, visited Minsk for the first time as part of its 2009 international tour program. On June 29, one of the country’s most representative venues – the National Philharmonic Hall – hosted this company of nine classical ballet-trained dancers who performed a show that included all-dance pieces as well as collaborative works incorporating dance, visual design and technology. The tickets for the show were sold out long before the performance and the audience greeted the American performers with standing ovation. On the next day the group’s artistic director, choreographer and founder, Liss Fain, conducted a master class at the local Theater of Variety for a crowd of local choreography students and professional dancers.
