Legends of Jazz by Ramsey Lewis Launches on Channel 8

The U.S. Embassy is honored to present TV series LEGENDS OF JAZZ, hosted by Ramsey Lewis. Each of its 13 segments focuses on a specific theme. Contemporary jazz and Latin jazz are just some of the diverse topics explored.

These series beautifully showcase one of America's richest and most admired musical genres. Each themed episode features interesting conversations between Ramsey Lewis and his guests and original performances by some of the world's leading musicians.

In his introduction to the TV series, Charge d’Affaires Michael Scanlan noted that “the understanding of jazz is integral to the understanding of American history and culture… I am sure the many fans of jazz in this country as well as Belarusians who wish to find out more about America’s cultural heritage will like this series and will look forward to it as a great family pastime during the weeks to come.”

Television broadcast rights for LEGENDS OF JAZZ series, dubbed in Russian, have been provided to Channel 8. Starting November 24, 2010, the viewers throughout Belarus can see a new episode each Wednesday, 5:00pm. Program reruns will be available on Friday, 11:15pm, and Saturday, 4:30pm.
