Ambassador Stewart Visits BSU
Ambassador Stewart made her first official visit to the Belarusian State University on February 22, 2007 and met with University leadership, as well as faculty and students. In honor of Presidents’ Day, she delivered a speech on the life and legacy of our first President, George Washington, to a group of sixty university students and faculty members. Embassy officer Nathan Lane joined the Ambassador at this event, speaking of the importance and impact of our country’s sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln. These presentations were then followed by a lively question and answer discussion period where students were free to ask the Ambassador about Washington and Lincoln, but also about a range of other topics, including her impressions of Belarus, as well as current U.S. policy towards their country.
