American Trio Brings World Music to Belarus
9 July 2008
Minsk, Belarus
American composer, film maker, master percussionist, writer and arts educator Stacey Fox and her trio will visit Minsk July 10-13, 2008. The trio will perform at the U.S. Embassy's annual "Ambasovischa" event on July 11 -- the first-ever U.S. musicians to do so -- and plans to give a concert at the Belarusian Philharmonic on July 12.
Combining musical styles and instruments from around the world with contemporary technology, the Fox Trio’s compositional palette often includes film, sculpture, painting, spoken word and movement. Fox's Belarusian concerts will include big drum Native American sounds, traditional Inuit and Tibetan influences, as well as some rock and roll and modern musical elements.
A truly international artist, Stacey Fox has performed in Japan, South America, North America and Europe. In addition, the trio features Maria Anthony (flute, guitar, vocals) and Megan Hurt (violin, vocals).
