U.S. Embassy Announces ELPS’2010

U.S. Embassy in Belarus together with an initiative group is pleased to announce the country’s second English Language Poetry Slam competition (ELPS’2010). In this hybrid between literature and entertainment, rather than simply reading their poems, poets will combine personality and performance to elicit direct reactions from the audience. Twenty selected entrants will take part in a reading and Grand Finale on October 8, 2010 and five winners will receive special awards from the Embassy.

To be invited to participate in the slam, applicants should send their poems per the rules (www.facebook.com/irc.usembassy.minsk) to elps@usembassy.minsk.by. Please also submit your full name, age, contact phone number and email address.

Submissions will be accepted from September 8 through September 30, 2010.All poems submitted during the period will be accessible at www.facebook.com/irc.usembassy.minsk
