Ambassador Krol Addresses U.S. Election Breakfast
Ambassador George Krol addressed a crowd of over 300 people at a U.S. Election Breakfast event organized by U.S. Embassy Minsk at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3. Ambassador Krol welcomed the crowd, which included a wide range of Embassy contacts and alumni of U.S. Government programs, and explained the basics of the U.S. electoral system. After his remarks, Ambassador Krol spoke with a mix of state and independent media on the U.S. elections, and then made the rounds of the gathering until late in the morning. Guests viewed TV broadcasts of election results on three big screens and also saw running tabulations of vote counts projected from a laptop computer onto a fourth screen mounted in the large dining room of a local hotel. The Public Affairs Staff coordinated the event, providing guests with a variety of election-related materials, including pamphlets and many other materials produced by the State Department's Office of International Information Programs (IIP).
