The Belarusian Children’s Hospice Welcomes Volunteers
Guests and volunteers create a painting for the hospice
On September 11 the Belarusian Children’s Hospice staff and volunteers hosted an open door event to inform the society about the hospice activities, programs and needs. The happening took place in the framework of the US Embassy Small Grants Program funded project that aimed at the development of social initiatives and attracting volunteers to the palliative care. Groups of college students and individual visitors had an opportunity to take a tour of the hospice facilities in the absence of its patients; watch a video presentation about its programs, talk to volunteers and staff and familiarize with publications on palliative care that were produced by the Belarusian Children’s Hospice. The participants enjoyed the music performance organized by volunteers. All together they created a wish tree and with the help of a professional artist made a fascinating collective painting and decorated the hospice fence.
