U.S. Embassy Minsk Delivers Children's Books to Gomel Region

The Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy Minsk delivered more than 1 ,000 children's books to the American Corner in Gomel, Belarus, and to five schools in rural towns of the region. The Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Public Affairs Officer presented the books and other English language materials to the schools May 11-12, meeting with students and teachers of English. The Embassy presented to the American Corner 500 children's library books that had been donated by American elementary school teachers from the state of Arkansas. The donations of English language materials followed up on a seminar in Gomel last year during which an American Fulbright Scholar taught local teachers how to use these kinds of children's books effectively in the classroom.
