U.S. Specialist in Family Support Services Shares Volunteer Experience with Belarusians
On December 3, U.S. Speaker Adam Brunner, a specialist in family support services, delivered the keynote address at the national conference "Volunteering in Belarus and Abroad: Social Technologies and Innovations." Dr. Brunner, Director of the National Center for Family Friends in Washington, D.C., joined over 100 volunteers and NGO activists from all over Belarus who gathered to promote volunteerism at the conference in Minsk co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, "Professionals for Development," and the U.S. Embassy. His program in Minsk also afforded him the opportunity to share insights on successful implementation of volunteer projects with several groups of Belarusian volunteer project managers, social workers and students. Brunner's program included presentations to social work and counseling students at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University; high school students and teachers at Minsk Gymnasium No 7; and a group of social workers running volunteer projects for the disadvantaged. During his short but very intensive three-day program in Belarus, Brunner addressed over 250 Belarusians involved in volunteer activities.
