Ambassador Krol Visits Bobruisk

On December 15, U.S. Ambassador to Belarus George Krol visited Bobruisk, the second largest city in Mogilev region. Ambassador Krol addressed an audience of over 60 teachers, librarians and students in an official ceremony to open the Eleventh American Corner in Belarus at the City Public Library named after Pushkin. Ambassador Krol announced a U.S. donation to the library of two computers, a DVD player, a TV/VCR combination, video films, CD-ROMS, posters, DVDs, and reference materials in addition to the earlier grants given to the Library for the Internet and library furniture in a total amount of over $21,000.

In addition to the American Corner opening, Ambassador Krol met with the Deputy Mayor and the Chief of the City Administration, where they discussed development of the eco-tourism projects there, as well as small business investments. Following this meeting, Ambassador Krol toured several historic sites of Bobruisk. At the end of the day, Ambassador Krol visited the Detroit-Belarus Brewing Company.
