U.S. Embassy officer John Janek reviews works at the “Echo of Silence” art and photo exhibition

On October 15, 2010 Director of the National Art Museum Vladimir Prokoptsov announced the opening of the “Echo of Silence” art and photo exhibition sponsored by the Embassy at the National Art Museum.  In his remarks the founder of the “Farba” painting studio and the instructor of young artists Dmitry Ermilov expressed sincere gratitude to the Embassy for timely and efficient support, mentioning that without it this exhibit would not be possible at an arts gallery of such high ranking.

The main participants of the project are children with hearing disorders.  Their paintings reflect their own unique vision of the world around them.  Another component of the exposition is the works of a famous photographer Marina Batsukova. Black and white photos of the young artists of “Farba” studio at work are in dramatic contrast with their color paintings.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by many guests, including professional artists, photographers, educational community, diplomatic corps and press.
