Visit of American Conductor Charles Ansbacher

On May 29-June 1, 2003, the U.S. Embassy sponsored the visit to Minsk of Dr. Charles Ansbacher, the conductor and founder of Boston Landmarks Orchestra. Dr. Ansbacher has conducted orchestras in cities around the world including Vienna, Cairo, Moscow, Calgary, Sarajevo, and Vilnius. This is not the first visit of the well-known American conductor to Belarus. In 1997, he conducted a concert with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society. On June 1, 2003, Dr. Ansbacher conducted the Belarusian Symphonic Orchestra under the artistic leadership of Alexander Anissimov. The program featured the music of American and European composers.
