2006 Programs and Events

American Jazz at the Philharmonic

On the evening of June 9, 2006, the U.S. Embassy in Minsk, in cooperation with the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, sponsored a program featuring American musicians Deborah Brown and Mike del Ferro, performing alongside several notable Belarusian musicians. Ms. Brown and Mr. del Ferro represent the American not-for-profit organization American Voices, which is dedicated to the promotion of quality American music.

Belarusians Pavel Arakelyan on saxophone, Alexander Sapega on drums, and Sergey Neronsky on bass guitar joined Brown and del Ferro in a concert of both traditional and contemporary jazz. The packed audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance, prompting two encores by Brown and del Ferro.

Following the concert, many jazz lovers from the audience took the opportunity to speak with the musicians and thank them for a wonderful performance that brought quality American music and culture to the Belarusian public.
