Ambassador Krol Donates Materials to American Corner in Belarus

U.S. Ambassador George Krol on May 10 donated equipment and English language publications valued at $20,185 to the American Corner in the Central City Public Library in Molodechno, Belarus. The donation included a TV/VCR, DVD player, 52 videos, 10 DVDs, reference materials, and CD-ROMS.

Ambassador Krol received a warm reception at the library where he was greeted by Nina Artyshevich, Director of the Library; Vice Mayor Efim Idelchik; Vice Mayor Natalia Shmakova; and Nadezhda Sidorenko, Head of the City Executive Committee. The program included a concert and a fashion show in the Ambassador's honor. The more than 100 guests at the presentation ceremony included representatives of cultural institutions and high school students who are studying English.

During the past six months, more than 600 Belarusians have visited the American Corner, which has become a cultural center focusing on the U.S. and English language study.
